Abstract

Nurses integrate the best available evidence to guide clinical practice with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes. But, when death is the only possible patient outcome, the role of the nurse is to support the patient and the patient’s loved ones through the death and dying process. This poster will discuss the scholarly endeavor to locate, review, and summarize the evidence regarding the nursing care of a patient experiencing imminent death, and compare the findings with contemporary practice.
