Abstract

Technology has arguably become even more prevalent in classrooms. Technology enables students to learn and communicate in different ways. Some schools provide students with devices such as computers or tablets, which allows for the opportunity to use digital tools. This has ultimately transformed education. This research focuses on what factors play into the use of digital tools. The study that is a part of this research highlights the use of two digital tools: Gimkit and Commonlit, and how they are being used in a middle school reading and social studies classroom. These two digital tools will be studied to determine how effective they are. Some examples of elements of the digital tools that will determine how effective they are is what features the tools offer and what cons and benefits they have. As an educator, it's essential to determine what is effective to ensure students are receiving a quality education.
