Abstract

A Radiologic Technologist is an individual who uses a wide variety of techniques and positioning to obtain high quality diagnostic images. In doing so, a technologist must also ensure quality patient care, including radiation protection. With continuous growth in the number of diagnostic images being ordered, radiation safety remains a top priority in healthcare. Due to possible effects radiation may have on the body, radiologic technologists must prioritize radiation safety in all scenarios. By taking the necessary steps, a technologist can help ensure diagnostic imaging is done in a safe manner. Technologists must adhere to their responsibility in providing quality diagnostic images while keeping all involved safe. By using numerous techniques and strategies while performing an x-ray exam, technologists can limit the potential harm patients may face.
