Abstract

Nurse burnout is a common occurrence marked by a loss of energy in nurses, which displays as emotional tiredness, a lack of enthusiasm, and emotions of dissatisfaction, as well as a decrease in work efficacy. Our presentation will define nurse burnout, characteristics, causes and assess the level of nurse burnout during COVID-19 pandemic. We will also identify possible ways that future nurses can prevent and avoid burnout in their careers. There have been multiple studies, research, and assessments of burnout rates within healthcare before and after the COVID-19 pandemic and we would like to present these studies. As senior BSN students, we are aware that burnout could have a significant impact on our futures, and we would like to share some of the resources and guidelines we have found that will aid us in combating this.
