Abstract
During State testing, the emphasis is normally on reading comprehension when it comes to the English side. The researcher looked for a connection between how the material is taught and how the students gained reading comprehension. The students engaged with William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar in one of two ways either in discussion-based learning or learning by doing, also known as hands-on learning. Activities ranged from making play set to creating podcasts that all looked at tone and characterization of the play. The data collected will help to see if teaching strategies have an impact on student reading comprehension.
