Abstract
Learners today are diverse and that is highlighted in the different learning styles students possess. Some of these students learn greatly from the lecture style many social studies teachers implement. However, teaching social studies with a lecture note taking style has been proven to be an ineffective way to communicate information to many students, especially students with IEPs. Many students don’t learn by just sitting and listening to the teacher lecture while they take notes. This was proven during the first and second nine weeks with many kids either failing or coming close to it. How can students show proper engagement and care for the subject if the students' needs are not met by their teachers?
