Abstract

Students in the 21stcentury have so much to say and so much to learn, but without the use of creative thinking and creative writing, their learning can become fragmented, which results in a loss of motivation. To increase student motivation and creative thinking in the classroom, this research project implemented creative writing in a journal to positively impact the students writing capabilities and rapport toward the monotonous academic writing that is portrayed. The classroom is a place to encourage abstract and inventive thinking, therefore a journal is an effective and positive way to urge students to write, while also polishing their already present writing skills.
