Abstract
Teaching literary argumentation in an Advanced Placement Literature & Composition course is never an easy task. Some students are better equipped to tackle the challenging material while others need more guidance through the material and skills. This research project examined one approach to building literary argumentation skills through collaboration on essay outlines between mixed-ability pairs of students. Following this activity, students were reassessed in another literary analysis essay to investigate if mixed ability peer collaboration can help build individual rhetorical and analytic skills in students.
